CRAfT

College Readiness Assignment Field Testing (CRAfT): CRAfT has convened teachers across the state to field test a set of rigorously-developed college readiness assignments (CRAs). CRAs launch students toward excellence in college by exposing them to the content, thinking, and doing necessary for success at flagship institutions.

During the 2012-2013 school year, high schools and institutions of higher education across the state were field testing CRAs in four core subject areas—English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies—that are aligned with the Texas College and Career Readiness Standards (TCCRS) and the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and that can be delivered in a variety of secondary and postsecondary educational contexts. These assignments make explicit expectations in entry-level college courses and build the key cognitive and foundational skills the state has identified as leverage points for college success.
